USAID will allocate $100 mln for agrarian sector development in Afghanistan
Almaty. July 27. Silkroadnews - The US agency for international development (USAID) is going to allocate $100 mln aid to Afghanistan for agriculture development, reports the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG).
According to the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Cattle Breeding, the new package of aid will be directed to a number of agricultural fields in different regions of the state.
"We are trying to render more attention to farmers. USAID will conclude an agreement with one American university to launch educational programs. This university has rich international experience," said Asadulla Zamir, Minister of Agriculture.
The package of aid will be used for support of agricultural products market, independent grain production in Afghanistan, improvement of qualification level of employees of the Ministry of Agriculture and other fields in agricultural sector.
USAID representatives promised to continue providing support to the national strategy of agriculture development in the state.
"We know that agriculture will be the main field in the development strategy proposed by the Government of National Unity," said Herb Smith, chief of USAID representation in Afghanistan.
