Using Internet the security officials of Tajikistan have prevented eight terrorist attacks

Almaty. September 16. Silkroadnews – Since the beginning of the year the security officials of Tajikistan have prevented eight terrorist attacks using Internet, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Friday.

«In Tajikistan, with a population of 8.5 million people, since the beginning of this year, the security forces have prevented eight terrorist attacks keeping track on the online conversations», the head of Department for law enforcement supervision over the Republic's National Security agencies Abdulrahim Abdulhasanov said.

Speaking at the forum «Freedom of expression on the Internet and fight against extremism and terrorism» he said that the internet should not be left without monitoring, yet the monitoring should be carried out on the basis of legislation.

«We should not violate the rights and freedoms of citizens, including the right to freedom of expression and privacy of communication. But here in Tajikistan, we, first of all, proceed from the people's right to life as stated by the United Nations Organization», A. Abdulhasanov said.

He pointed out the terrorist acts have been prevented through the examination of various materials on the Internet, tracking the negotiations, including those ones carried out using messengers. In particular, the information technologies helped to identify the persons who planned to conduct the terrorist attacks using explosives. The explosive have been seized.
