Uzbek exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables have been bound to sell half of their foreign exchange earnings

Almaty. April 13. Silkroadnews – As of May 1, 2016, according to the decree by the President of Uzbekistan the country’s enterprises and organizations involved in export have been imposed to sell 50% of foreign exchange earnings coming from the export of fresh fruits and vegetables, grapes and melons, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.

The decree also covers the micro-companies, small businesses, farmers and private farms.
The document has been approved due to establishment of new foreign trade company “Uzagroexport” to operate in the export of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products. The company shall operate as a part of holding company “Uzbekozikovkatholding” (created this February on the basis of the Association of Food Industry of Uzbekistan).

“Uzagroexport” will carry out marketing research of the world and regional markets for fruit and vegetables, promote the domestic products for export and search for new markets.
Center for quality management and standardization system “Food Laboratory”, as well as the specialized transport and logistics company and trade and logistics centers in Tashkent and regions are supposed to operate under the new company.
