Uzbek Parties to amend Constitution
Tashkent. March 14. Silkroadnews – Political factions of Uzbekistan are drafting the law “On implementing amendments and additions to some articles of Constitution of Republic of Uzbekistan. This is reported by UzTAG, the Uzbek Telegraph Agency.
“Amendments and additions will be introduced to 6 articles of the constitution. They will deal with the system of checks and balances, deepening of the control functions of Parliament and broadening of the scope of public and Parliament oversight. Some executive powers of the President are possibly to be transferred to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister’s election procedure is also to be amended”, our source in Parliament of the country said.
The Constitution was first adopted on the 8th of December 1992 in Uzbekistan. Since then, it was amended in 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2011.
