Uzbek secret services arrested several high-ranking customs officials on charges of bribery

Tashkent. September 30. Silkroadnews - Secret agencies of Uzbekistan on charges of bribery detained several senior customs officials, reports KazTAG citing a source in the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the country.
So, was taken into custody the head of the State Customs Committee of Tashkent region, Customs Colonel Sirozhiddin Gulamov and his deputy, as well as several inspectors of two customs posts in the Tashkent region, said the source on Tuesday.
"During the investigation, found cases of extortion on part of bribes from crossing frontier entrepreneurs, individuals, facts of position appointments after received bribery, the organization of criminal groups to raise money", - said the source.
In June, the media reported that Uzbekistan had taken into custody about 100 employees of various departments under the State Customs Committee of the special operation of the national security of Uzbekistan to stop unhindered access to the territory of the country of smuggled goods.
