Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed on 56 disputed border areas

Almaty. November 14. Silkroadnews – The regular meetings of the governmental delegations’ working groups of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan resulted in agreements on 56 disputed border areas, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan reported.

It is noted, the meetings of working groups on delimitation and demarcation of the state border were held according to the approved schedule in Fergana city on November 8-13.

“The joint field survey and topographic survey have been carried out on disputed 14 areas on the line of the state border in the Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana regions of Uzbekistan neighboring with Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh regions of the Kyrgyz Republic”, Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

“The working groups have agreed on positions on seven areas. Thus, as of November 13 the number of areas agreed by the parties totals 56”, the Uzbek side summed up.

In the course of the meetings the parties signed the relevant protocol and approved the schedule of field topographic and land survey works on the remaining uncoordinated areas.
