Uzbekistan approved the state program for the Aral Sea region development

Almaty. January 31. Silkroadnews – Decree of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the “State Program on development of the Aral Sea region for 2017-2021”, Trend writes.

The program aims “to improve the living conditions and quality of living for the region’s population” and
provides for realization of 67 projects worth 8.422 trillion som.

The newly established micro-companies and small enterprises operating in industry sector (except for CNG stations) located in Muinak, Shumanay, Kanlykulskiy, Takhtakupirskiy and Chimbay districts of Karakalpakstan, as well as Yangiarikskiy and Qo’shko’pirskiy districts of Khorezm region, to be exempted from single tax payment (paid by small enterprise instead of group of taxes) until 2027, and in other regions of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm – until 2022.

“For a reliable and stable financial support for measures implementation” the fund for the Aral region development will be created under the republic’s finance ministry.

Starting from February 1, 2017, monthly parent fee for children support in pre-school educational institutions, boarding schools specializing in certain subjects, music and art schools, as well as centers of culture and leisure of the population, in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm are to be reduced in half compared to those ones set for Uzbekistan as a whole.

Also a new kind of social privileges in the form of a one-time financial assistance in the amount of 2-5 minimum wages (currently a minimum wage is 149.775 thousand som) appointed by a decision of the local governments committee to, first of all, lower-income families, lonely citizens, pensioners, families with disabled breadwinners and other low-income categories of populations to be introduced in the region this February.
