Uzbekistan by the end of 2016 plans to build solar power plant worth $275 million

Almaty. September 16. Silkroadnews - In the fourth quarter of 2016 in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan plans to put into operation a solar photovoltaic plant (SPP), reported the Uzbek news agency (UzTAG).
SPP construction started in the second half of 2014.
The main objective of the project - the use of light energy in the long term, increasing the efficiency and reliability of electricity supply to the southwestern part of the republic, the objects of the national economy and the population of Samarkand region, as well as the creation of new jobs.
A feasibility study was developed by Uzbek company, the project is financed by Asian Development Bank and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan. The preliminary cost of SPP - more than $275 million.
The station will annually save more than 49 million cubic meters of natural gas.
