Uzbekistan eases access control procedures at the state border for citizens of Kyrgyzstan

Almaty. October 17. Silkroadnews – Uzbekistan allowed the citizens of Kyrgyzstan to attend the wedding and other celebrations arranged by their relatives living on the Uzbek territory, KyrTAG reports.

“The Uzbek side has held the special reception for the Kyrgyz delegation headed by First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Muhammetkaly Abulgaziev. During a one-day visit the heads of the Osh, Batken, Jalal-Abad regions of Kyrgyzstan and Andijan, Fergana and Namangan regions of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum of cooperation”, the publication says.

After the visit the access control procedures have been eased control on the border, thus, a number of those wishing to visit their relatives living in the neighboring country has increased sharply. According to border guards, earlier 300 people crossed the border each day, now this number grew to more than one thousand.

“Access control procedures easing may be considered as a positive outcome of the meeting held by the Kyrgyz and Uzbek officials”, the head of the “Dostuk” checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border Beksultan Alibekov said.

With this the simplified rules are valid only for those who have a telegram with invitation from the relatives living in Uzbekistan.
