Uzbekistan for a month suspended currency exchange

Almaty. May 22. Silkroadnews - Central Bank of Uzbekistan stopped the operations of foreign exchange in the country, reports UzTAG.
Operations are suspended for individuals and legal entities (companies) at least until the beginning of July. At the same time on the website of the Central Bank there is no reports on suspension of exchanging currency.
In May the rate of Uzbek soum in the black market fell to 5 thousand soums to the dollar, while in March the price of one US dollar was 3.7 thousand soums. The May drop was "a new record in the history of independent Uzbekistan".
It is reported that in Uzbekistan since February 1, 2013 banned the sale of foreign currency to individuals. Foreign currency can only be obtained through the banks in the form of remittances, as well as transfer to citizens of a plastic card. Citizens can buy dollars only once a quarter, before a trip abroad - not more than $2 thousand at the official rate.
Earlier, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan has sent the Prime Minister a warning about the lack of cash in the economy.
