Uzbekistan from October 1, raises electricity tariffs by 9.8%

Tashkent. September 17. Silkroadnews - In Uzbekistan, electricity tariffs from October 1, will increase by 9.8%, reported in the State Joint-Stock Company "Uzbekenergo".
According to the company, the price for 1 kWh of electricity will increase from 131.4 to 144.3 soums. Also the cost of electricity used for heating, hot water and cooling (air conditioning), will be 144.3 soum. In homes equipped with electric stoves, the cost of 1 kWh of electricity will be increased from 65.7 to 72.15 soum.
Flat-rate tariff for industrial and similar consumers with capacity of 750 kVA and above will be increased to 144.3 soum, two-part tariff - up to 237.78 thousand soum per 1 kW of peak load annualy and up to 112.8 som per 1 kWh consumed energy.
This is the second increase of domestic electricity prices in Uzbekistan this year - in April, the rates were increased by 9.5%. In recent years, electricity rates in Uzbekistan were gradually increased for all categories of consumers. During 2011-2014, the average tariff for electricity has increased by almost 1.5 times.
