Uzbekistan has adopted a program of modernization of mining and metallurgical industry worth $1.5 billion
Almaty. April 6. Silkroadnews - President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved the program of modernization of the mining industry in 2015-2019 worth $1.5 billion, reports the Telegraph Agency of Uzbekistan (UzTAG).
The program includes 41 projects on modernization, technical and technological renewal of production at two plants - "Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Plant" (NMMC, Navoi region) and JSC "Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant" (AMMC, Tashkent region).
NMMC in 5 years will implement 27 projects worth $984.5 million. This includes the construction of mining complex in Samarkand region, working out of quarry "Muruntau" (fifth place), modernization and technical rearmament of auxiliary production facilities.
AMMC by 2020 will implement 14 projects worth $500 million. This includes the expansion of resource base of the plant, construction of a new gold mining deposit, construction of cement factory in the Surkhandarya region, purchase of new equipment and completion of copper-smelting furnace.
Recall that NMMC is the main producer of gold (70 tons) and uranium in Uzbekistan. AMMC - the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. It accounts for 90% of silver and 20% of gold in the country.
