Uzbekistan intends to complete the construction of the second gas chemical complex by the end of 2015
Almaty. February 23. Silkroadnews - Construction of Uzbekistan Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex (GCC), worth $4.1 billion is planned to be completed by the end of 2015, reports Trend.
"Currently, the project operator - Uzbek-Korean JV «Uz-KorGasChemical»- completes the construction and connection of external infrastructure facilities of water and electricity, telecommunications networks, railways and roads, as well as industrial water conduits and artificial pond. At the same time finishing the installation of process equipment",- says the publication.
As noted in the article, JV «Uz-KorGasChemical», and a consortium of Korean companies (South Korea's gas corporation Kogas, the company Honam Petrochemical and STX Energy), started construction of Ustyurt GCC in 2011.
The design capacity of the GCC is 4.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year, producing up to 4 billion cubic meters of marketable gas, 387 thousand tons of polyethylene, 83 thousand tons of polypropylene and 102 thousand tons of pyrolysis gasoline per year.
The project is funded by the founders of the joint venture investment at $1.41 billion, credit resources of foreign financial institutions at $2.54 billion and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan at $100 million.
The raw material base of the project are the fields "Surgil", "Est Berdah-Uchsay" and "North Berdah". The largest of them - "Surgil" with reserves of about 120 billion cubic meters
This is the second GCC, which will be put into operation in Uzbekistan. In 2001, the country commissioned Shurtan GCC with a capacity of 125 thousand tons of polyethylene per year.
