Uzbekistan to introduce compulsory health insurance
Almaty. April 11. Silkroadnews – Uzbekistan plans to introduce compulsory medical insurance, Uzbek media write.
“President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On measures for further development of the private sector in healthcare”, saying by October 2017 Uzbekistan plans to develop the concept of the draft law “On Medical Insurance””, the publication says.
The decree states the law will provide for the universality and compulsory coverage of the medical insurance system.
The document will provide equal rights to medical and preventive services for every citizen and also guarantee the provision of paid high quality medical services in accordance with the insurance policy.
The decree notes that participants in compulsory and voluntary health insurance systems will be provided with various benefits and preferences.
The law is also expected to establish the legal framework for voluntary and compulsory health insurance and regulate tariffs for medical and preventive services.
The document will also describe the mechanisms to regulate the amounts of insurance obligations, premiums and payments.
Uzbekistan plans to establish a Mandatory Medical Insurance Fund to manage the health insurance funds.
