Uzbekistan to join IMF data dissemination system

Almaty. November 30. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan intends to complete joining the enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS) of the International Monetary Fund before the end of 2018, the Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.
"This will allow the republic to provide foreign investors, leading foreign companies and international financial institutions with full access to various economic data in the format accustomed, as well as serve to boost the volume of attracted foreign investment, as many foreign investors today do not trust the official Uzbek statistics,” the first deputy chairman of the State Statistics Committee Bakhodir Mirusmanov said at the meeting of the International Press Club.
The IMF mission is expected to arrive in Uzbekistan in January-February next year to provide technical assistance in the process.
Today, the IMF Statistics Department is one of the key players in the international statistical cooperation. The fund’s interests in statistics are primarily in the national accounts, balance of payments and financial data.
