Uzbekistan took the chairmanship in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC
Almaty. October 18. Silkroadnews – Uzbekistan has taken the chairmanship in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC CFM), Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.
“We are honored to perform the Presidency functions in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC. (...) We consider this as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the organization and the decisions of the important challenges it faces”, head of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov said at the opening ceremony of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers session in Tashkent.
He also expressed the hope that Uzbekistan will contribute to further expansion of the OIC potential.
“As the present chairman of the Council of Foreign Ministers we, together with all our partners, hope to make a worthy contribution to further expansion of the OIC potential and open new prospects of cooperation”, A. Kamilov said.
As reported, Tashkent hosts the 43rd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
The major outcome document of the 43rd session should be the Tashkent Declaration to reflect the major political, economic, cultural and humanitarian issues included in the OIC agenda of the OIC, as well as the priorities of Uzbekistan’s presidency in the organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers.
