Uzbekistan will deprive citizenship of terrorists fighting abroad
Almaty. August 11. Silkroadnews - Citizens of Uzbekistan involved in terrorist organizations outside the country will be deprived of citizenship. Relevant amendments to the law of the Republic "On Citizenship" were signed by the head of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and made public on Tuesday, reported KazTAG.
In accordance with the amendments, citizens of the republic will be automatically deprived of Uzbek citizenship if they have caused "substantial harm to the interests of society and the state, engaging in activities for the benefit of a foreign country or by the commissioning crimes against peace and security". Crimes against the peace and security are considered crimes such as mercenaries, admission, recruitment for military service, for service in the security forces, the police, military courts and other similar bodies of foreign states, terrorism, incitement of national, racial or religious hatred.
The law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
