Uzbekistan will direct more than $ 100 million for the creation of protective zones of forest plantations in the bottom of the Aral Sea
Almaty. August 13. Silkroadnews - In the near future Uzbekistan jointly with international organizations is planning to implement projects to create on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea, protective forest plantations worth more than $100 million, reported the Uzbek news agency (UzTAG).
"Removal of harmful salts from the dried bottom of the Aral Sea is a threat to the ecological situation in Central Asia and especially in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. In order to prevent the negative effects of land degradation it is necessary to conduct large-scale afforestation on the dry bottom. Only forest plantations by theirroots can strengthen the soil, and the crown will keep the salt and sand from blowing", - the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
The funds will be directed to the creation of breeding base of plant species and implementation of measures of reforestation.
