Visit of Moon Jae-in to China to restore confidence between South Korea and China
Almaty. November 16. Silkroadnews - The visit of Moon Jae-in to China will help restore confidence between South Korea and the PRC, Global Times reported.
“South Korean President Moon Jae-in's scheduled visit to China in December signals a continuing thaw in relations between China and South Korea, which could also contribute to maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula, observers said,” the publication reads.
It is noted that the administration of the President of South Korea announced that Moon will visit China in December to hold another round of talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The statement followed Xi’s meeting with Moon in Da Nang, Vietnam, on the sidelines of the APEC summit, during which two leaders reached an important consensus on improving ties.
Reportedly China and South Korea have reached a certain consensus on the issue of THAAD through diplomatic channels, as it is a mutual wish of both countries and corresponds to their mutual interests to solve this problem and remove obstacles that affect the bilateral relations development. The upcoming visit will help Moon both boosting the South Korean economy and strengthening diplomacy.
At the same time, it is noted that cooperation between China and South Korea in the fields of tourism and retail trade has improved over the past two weeks. Continuing cooperation between China and the United States on the issue of North Korea can also help improve relations between China and South Korea, experts believe.
