Almaty. October 7. Silkroadnews – Volume of oil exports from Iran to South Korea amounted to 8.33 million tonnes over 8 months, IrTAG writes.
In the first eight months of this year South Korea imported 8.33 million tonnes of crude from Iran, i.e. 250 thousand 160 barrels on a daily basis.
South Korea is a major importer of oil in Asia and ranks the 5th in the world in oil imports. The share of crude oil and petroleum products to meet the country's energy consumption needs stands at 39%.
Major crude exporters to South Korea are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and Qatar. Iran ranks the 5th in this list.
According to Reuters, last month Iranian crude supply to South Korea grew 2 times compared to the same period of last year.
According to the Korea Customs Service, in August Seoul imported 1.1 million tonnes, or 260 thousand 770 barrels of daily output, from Iran, while last August, when sanctions were in force, this volume amounted to 552 thousand.710 tonnes.
The share of oil-exporting countries in South Korea supply look like the following: Saudi Arabia – 33%, Kuwait – 18%, Iraq – 11%, Qatar – 11%, Iran – 10%, UAE – 9% and Russia – 6%.
