Warehouses in the Chinese port of Guangzhou are unable to accept new coal shipments
Almaty. September 7. Silkroadnews – Warehouses in the Chinese port of Guangzhou are unable to accept new coal cargoes, Australian SBS has informed.
“China’s Guangzhou port, the largest coal transport hub in southern China, said on Thursday that its storage facilities are currently unable to accept new coal cargoes”, the report said.
It is explained that the reason for warehouses overload was a backlog of cargoes caused by heavy rains and three typhoons in August.
As the newspaper notes, the port of Guangzhou, with its 14 coal berths and cargo turnover capacity of up to 60 million tonnes per year, suspended its operation, including foreign coal imports. Such a move surprised suppliers who stated they had not received any official information on the reasons for operation suspension, feared that the ban on imports was due to similar restrictions in other Chinese ports.
According publication, the port is actively working to solve the problems of coal transportation backlog, however, the expected date for the resumption of operation is still unknown.
