WB allocates $1.8 million to improve targeted assistance in Tajikistan

Beijing. February 2. Silkroadnews - WB allocates $1.8 million to improve targeted assistance to the poor in Tajikistan, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Friday.
The World Bank allocates an additional $1.8 million to expand and improve targeted social assistance to the vulnerable group of population in Tajikistan. The funding was approved by the Board of Directors of the World Bank on January 30 this year, the WB office reported.
The bank officials emphasize that the project is aimed to support the efforts made to introduce electronic registration and examination of disability in the National Register of Social Protection.
To remind, since 2011 the Government of Tajikistan, supported by the World Bank, has been implementing reforms in the field of social protection, aimed at consolidating obsolete and fragmented schemes of social assistance into a single set of benefits, as well as developing more effective targeting methods.
