With transport linkages development Tajikistan to enter the major markets
Almaty. March 3. Silkroadnews – Development of transport communications would enable Tajikistan to enter the major sales markets, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) wrote on Friday.
“Tajikistan’s geographical distance from the seas and large markets, compounded by underdeveloped transport communications, is among the challenges hindering the state’s development (...) and curbing the national economy’s competitiveness”, the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan until 2030 states.
According to the document's authors, there is a need for the major adjustments in economic activity concept of transport based on the market trends of the effective demand observed at present.
The success of the country and its regions will largely depend on the level of transport service provided for the economic relations with the major markets in the Eurasian region, south-eastern and north-western parts of the international corridors “North-South” and “South-South”.
Today, Tajikistan has only one way connecting its railway transport with foreign countries and regions through the territory of Uzbekistan. Not all the regions are interconnected with rail links inside the country, the document says.
