Without rational management of water resources it is impossible to provide a decent life for the population - relevant agencies in Uzbekistan
Almaty. 11 September. Silkroadnews - Uzbekistan adheres to a meaningful and constructive cooperation in the use of transboundary water resources. This was stated by Chairman of the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov transmits UzTAG.
He noted that "today the international community is in the final stage of implementation of the Millennium Development Goals and the adoption of new global benchmarks - goals of sustainable development up to 2030, where the water has a key role".
It is noteworthy that one of the 17 new objectives of the future prosperity is accentuated on the issues of accessibility, rational use, respect and preservation of water resources.
As stated B.Abdusamatov, construction of large hydraulic structures could lead to a total water shortages, devastating environmental, economic and social consequences. This should be considered through the prism of the universally recognized norms and principles of international law, taking into account possible risks of negative impact on the entire Aral Sea basin.
At the same time, according to the head of the Uzbek delegation, we must save the ecological and water balance regime of transboundary rivers. Implementation of large-scale projects on the waterways of the region, especially in upstream countries, should be carried out only with the conduct of an independent, professional, international expertise with the obligatory coordination with neighboring states.
Recall that on 7-8 September 2015 in Berlin delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the chairman of the State Committee for Nature Protection Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov participated in the Ministerial Conference on "Water and good neighborly relations in Central Asia".
