Almaty. February 13. Silkroadnews – By 2030 working-age population will reach 60% of the population in Tajikistan, the state’s National Development Strategy 2030 says, TajikTA reported.

“Throughout 2030 the population size could reach 11.5 million people. The bulk of the population (about 60%) will be able-bodied people (from 15 to 64 years) that will be the driver for the economic growth, but only in case the high qualification employment potential is ensured”, the National Development Strategy 2030 states.

The document notes, in case Tajikistan does not take specific efforts, “a demographic window of opportunities” will turn into a “window of demographic threats”.

According to the strategy, a share of young people aged up to 20 years reached 45% in the country in 2015. These people are expected to form a base of the working-age population in 2030.

The strategy’s authors believe, “a demographic window” will have a positive impact on both the social and economic development of the country as a whole and the level of well-being and opportunities for individual families.

It was also reported that the government of the republic will be guided by this forecast and adjust their activities according to these data.
