Xi Jinping called for building beautiful villages

Beijing. March 3. Silkroadnews - President Xi Jinping called for the creation of prosperous, beautiful, civilized and comfortable villages, the newspaper China Daily writes.
Xi said this, responding to a letter from members of the Party from the village in Zhejiang province, East China.
Xi expressed the hope that all members of the Party in the village of Hengkantou, Zhejiang, local residents and party organizations will play their role in building beautiful villages.
“Party organizations must work with firm resolve, and Party members must always hold themselves to the highest standards in a bid to handle rural affairs and pursue rural vitalization,” the agency citied Xi saying.
He also said he was glad to know that the village has become rich and highly developed, with residents’ well-being growing due to their hardwork and leadership of the local party organization. Reportedly, at the beginning of the century, Hengkantou village had poor transport and living conditions.
As the head of the party organization in Zhejiang, Xi visited the village on the eve of the Chinese lunar new year in 2003 and called the villagers to strive to get rid of poverty and build a prosperous village as soon as possible.
Over the past 15 years, the village has adjusted its industrial structure and began to fully use its resources to improve well-being.
The party members wrote a letter to Xi to report on the changes in the village and their determination to lead the villagers to create a beautiful village.
