Xinjiang shuttle border trade volume with neighboring countries through “Khorgos” checkpoint has grown significantly

Almaty. November 7. Silkroadnews – In January-September of this year the total exports and imports volume of Xinjiang shuttle border trade amounted to 47.35 billion yuan, having grown around 9% compared to the same period of last year, “Xinhua” agency informs.

It accounted for almost 60% of the total volume of foreign trade in Xinjiang.

In particular, the volume of shuttle cross-border trade of Xinjiang through the checkpoint of Khorgos on the Chinese-Kazakhstani border has reached 19 billion yuan, which is almost 50% growth.

In the first three quarters of this year the turnover of goods through the Khorgos checkpoint in shuttle border trade amounted to about 400 thousand tonnes showing more than 20% increase. A significant part of exports of goods is made by textile. Currently, there are 26 textile enterprises operating within the Khorgos checkpoint area, which products are supplied to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other neighboring countries.

According to the experts, a significant growth of exports and imports through the checkpoint Khorgos in shuttle border trade has been made possible due to the complementarity reached between Xinjiang’s economy, especially the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, where the Khorgos check point is located, and neighboring countries, as well as the measures China took over the past three years to boost the foreign trade stable development.
